Taryn Rubuliak combines her passion for sports, leadership, and mentorship to guide young athletes in their development both on and off the court. With a background in competitive swimming and as an active member of the U18 club volleyball team for Thunder Gold, Taryn understands the drive, discipline, and teamwork required to excel in sports.
Currently pursuing a degree in journalism at MacEwan University, Taryn is passionate about sports journalism, with a particular focus on elevating the profiles of incredible female athletes and giving them the recognition they truly deserve. Her dedication to both her athletic and academic pursuits reflects her commitment to continuous growth, whether she's helping athletes reach their potential or working toward her own professional goals.

Dr. Derek Lampshire is the founder and chiropractor at ATHX Performance, bringing over 22 years of experience in chiropractic care with a specialized focus on sports injuries, biomechanical assessment, and athletic performance. A former hockey player at the University of British Columbia, Dr. Lampshire first completed a degree in Animal Biology before pursuing his Doctor of Chiropractic at Palmer College of Chiropractic West in San Jose, California.
Throughout his career, Dr. Lampshire has worked with a diverse range of athletes, from Olympians to professionals, helping them optimize performance, recover from injuries, and achieve their goals. He has served as the lead chiropractic physician for several high-performance teams and organizations, including the University of Alberta Golden Bears Hockey, Athletics, and Cross Country teams, Edmonton Rush Lacrosse, FC Edmonton Soccer, Edmonton Prospects, and the Canadian Athletics Coaching Centre.
With a deep passion for enhancing athletic performance, Dr. Lampshire has established himself as a respected leader in the chiropractic and sports medicine field. His dedication to excellence has been instrumental in shaping ATHX Performance into a trusted resource for both sports medicine and athlete development, making him a vital part of the athletic community.

Dr. Marcy Lampshire is a co-founder and chiropractor at ATHX Performance, specializing in the treatment of foot and ankle injuries. With over a decade of experience in her field, Dr. Marcy has earned a well-deserved reputation as "The Foot Lady" in the running and dance communities, particularly for her expertise in addressing complex lower extremity injuries.
Dr. Marcy’s deep knowledge and experience extend beyond her clinic practice. She has served as the official healthcare provider for the Alberta Ballet for over ten years, providing trusted care to many of Edmonton’s young dancers. Her understanding of the unique challenges faced by dancers, athletes, and active individuals has made her an invaluable resource for performance optimization and injury recovery.
As a marathon runner and Ironman triathlete herself, Dr. Marcy brings a personal, athlete-centered approach to her work. She is passionate about helping distance athletes, understanding the specific demands of endurance sports, and ensuring they remain at their best. Whether treating injuries or helping athletes maximize their performance, Dr. Marcy is committed to providing expert care that supports long-term health and peak physical performance.

Dr. Zafir Samnani is a chiropractor with a strong focus on treating musculoskeletal conditions, particularly those affecting the back, neck, TMJ, and extremities. With a passion for working with athletes, Zafir takes a biomechanical approach to understanding and addressing issues, helping athletes overcome challenges and reach their desired performance goals.
Zafir is also an active coach for a club volleyball team and has an extensive background in multiple sports, including soccer and volleyball. Having experienced firsthand the challenges of being sidelined by injury, he understands what it takes to recover and return to peak performance. His empathetic approach to care is driven by his commitment to helping others get back to doing what they love.In his spare time, Zafir enjoys participating in a variety of sports, including recently taking up pickleball and golf. His diverse athletic background and dedication to both his practice and personal pursuits make him a valuable resource for clients at ATHX Performance.

But that’s just one part of his story. Antoine is also a world-class sprinter who represented internationally at the World Championships (1995, 1997, 1999) and two Olympic Games. At the 1997 Jeux de la Francophonie, he won silver medals in both the 100m and 200m. He still holds Gabon’s national records in the 100m (10.13) and 200m (20.49), and in Masters competition he ranked among the fastest in the world!

Brad Schneider is a seasoned massage therapist with over 20 years of experience in the field, known for his exceptional expertise and commitment to enhancing athletic performance and recovery. A graduate of Wellington College in Regina, Brad has been an integral member of the ATHX Performance team since 2007, bringing a wealth of knowledge to his practice.
Brad’s leadership in the industry is highlighted by his eight-year tenure as the Alberta Chapter President of the Canadian Sport Massage Therapy Association, where he played a key role in advancing the field of sport massage therapy. His vast experience includes working with athletes across all levels, from youth competitors to elite professionals. Brad has provided care to some of Canada’s top athletes, including the Canadian Olympic track and field team, the Canadian Olympic ski racing team, World Cup athletes, and professional players in hockey, football, and basketball.
Known for his ability to work with athletes in a variety of sports, Brad has become a trusted practitioner for individuals seeking effective treatment and recovery strategies. Justin has a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Southeast Missouri State University where he competed at the NCAA Division I level as a Javelin thrower. He has won 3 Ohio Valley Conference Javelin titles, qualified to NCAA Division 1 West Regionals 2x, and ended his career 4th all-time in school history. He ranked 4th overall in Canada (2024), qualifying to the finals at Canadian Olympic trials with a lifetime best of 68.65 meters. Justin specializes in high performance Javelin coaching, as well as introductory technical development, injury prevention, and event specific athletic development with over 10+ years of high level Javelin experience.
Justin will be offering Javelin specific coaching services to individuals and small groups, as well as other throwing/track development sessions.

Abby holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Alberta. She has a strong passion for movement science, with experience in both clinical rehabilitation and performance settings. With a background in sport, Abby is dedicated to helping individuals and athletes improve movement, recover from injury, and reach their full potential.

Keely Jewell is a Performance coach at ATHX, working with athletes to elevate their performance to a higher standard. She has completed her Personal Fitness Trainer Diploma at NAIT and is certified as a CSEP-PFT. She works with athletes who are serious about improving strength, explosiveness, and overall performance. Her coaching is built around intentional strength and power development, with a strong emphasis on movement quality and mechanics that transfer directly to sport. Keely brings a high-standard, detail-oriented approach to training that pushes athletes to perform at a higher level. She is committed to helping athletes unlock their full potential and separate themselves from the competition.

Kieran is a counselor, educator, coach, and former Paralympic sledge hockey athlete whose life and career have been shaped by resilience, leadership, and a deep commitment to helping others grow through adversity. A world champion in his sport, Kieran also coached the provincial sledge hockey team to three consecutive national titles, bringing a strong foundation in mentorship, teamwork, and high-performance mindset to everything he does. Before transitioning into counseling, he spent 16 years as a teacher, working in schools across K–12 and teaching a wide range of subjects. Throughout his career, coaching and teaching have remained central to his passion for helping others build confidence, character, and perseverance.
Kieran’s path has been anything but ordinary. After shattering his legs in a near-fatal cliff-jumping accident, he faced a long and demanding recovery that ultimately led him to Paralympic sport and a renewed sense of purpose. He later wrote an autobiography to share his journey and inspire others facing their own challenges. Today, as a counselor, he supports individuals navigating chronic pain, depression, anxiety, and major life transitions. His therapeutic approach draws from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution-Focused Therapy, blending practical skills with compassion and lived understanding. Grounded and approachable, Kieran is passionate about walking alongside others as they rediscover strength, hope, and possibility. He is also a proud husband and father of four beautiful girls, who continue to be his greatest motivation.

Sami Gouveia is a seasoned mental performance coach and the founder of Rise Above Mental Performance. Her journey in competitive performance began early, fueled by a passion for soccer that led her to captain MacEwan University to their first-ever U SPORTS national championship. Recognizing the pivotal role the mind plays in achieving peak performance, Sami pursued an academic path in sport psychology, earning both a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Science in Sport and Performance Psychology (with Applied Practice), graduating with distinction.
Sami is an active member of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology and the Canadian Sport Psychology Association. She has worked with athletes and performers across more than fifteen different disciplines, offering them the tools to unlock their mental potential. As a mental performance coach, her focus is on empowering individuals to develop the mental skills necessary to surpass limitations, overcome adversity, and achieve their true potential.Through Rise Above Mental Performance, Sami is dedicated to helping her clients build resilience, mental strength, and focus, not only in sports but in all aspects of life. Her approach combines a deep understanding of sport psychology with a genuine passion for empowering others to succeed.

Meet our head coach Kathryn Fuhr. Kathryn brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table. She has been involved with softball for over 30 years. With appearances at many provincials, westerns and national championships.
Most recently coaching with Team Alberta at the Canada Summer Games and won a bronze medal as a player there in 1997.
She is a member of both Softball Manitoba and Softball Canada Hall of Fame. We are so lucky to have Kathryn coach the team this year!

Bruce Barber, originally from Thunder Bay, Ontario, and now residing in Edmonton since 2018, has devoted 44 years to coaching baseball, beginning in 1980 with Thunder Bay Little League. A Baseball Canada Level III Certified Coach, Bruce has led and assisted numerous teams across all levels, including the Port Arthur Nationals, Westfort Internationals, TBJBA Jr. “A” Cardinals, Thunder Bay Junior Jacks, Mountain Jacks, TB Lakers, ThunderWolves, and most recently the Community Park Pirates and ATHX 18U program.
His coaching career includes multiple championships—highlighted by Little League Senior Canadian titles (1992, 2003) and OBA Provincial titles in 1999 and 2006—along with countless All-Star successes. Bruce’s dedication to player development and community sport has earned him numerous honors, including the 3M Coach Award (1996), TBJBA Coach Award (1997), City of Thunder Bay Volunteer Award (2003), and the Ontario Volunteer Service Award (2006), reflecting his lifelong passion for the game and commitment to excellence both on and off the field.

Liam Bilodeau-Minty is a former college pitcher with five years of coaching experience and a strong background in player development. He spent three seasons competing with Prairie Baseball Academy (PBA) in Lethbridge and two seasons with the Edmonton Collegiate Hawks (ECH). Liam currently serves as an assistant coach with the 15U ATHX Performance team, where he also provides a wide range of private lessons for athletes of all ages. Known for his ability to connect with players and break down complex mechanics, Liam specializes in developing pitchers and helping them build consistency, confidence, and command on the mound.

Rhonda was born and raised in Edmonton. She started playing Softball at the age of 8 and quickly became a competitive pitcher. Through her career, she has had the opportunity to play all over North America. She has multiple Provincial and two National Championships. She has several top pitcher and MVP awards; she threw 1 of her 4 perfect games at a National Championship Tournament. She played in Panama City, Florida for Gulf Coast College and took them to a third place finish and the NJCAA National Championship. She then played NCAA Div 1 at Stetson University in Deland Florida finishing her senior year with a 1.13 ERA and 221 SO in 216 innings. She is a member of the Softball Alberta Hall of Fame.
Rhonda has been a Pitching Coach for 20+ years and is CANPITCH certified. She has been coaching U8 to U15 with the Beaumont Blitz Softball Association for a few years. She was an integral part of the 2026 Team Alberta Bronze medal finish at the Canada Summer Games in NFLD. She is currently coaching U17A in St.Albert.
Her philosophy is that she wants all athletes to improve physically and mentally throughout the year working hard to improve weaknesses. She has played under various coaching styles and believes that the power of positivity is most effective in teaching youth of various ages. The goal for the athletes attending ATHX is to prepare them for college and train them to be recruitable, focusing on what it takes to get to the next level.

Zach played here at ATHX in his final high school year before going on to play college baseball at the University of the Fraser Valley. During his time at UFV, he gained valuable experience competing at a high level and learning what it takes to excel both physically and mentally. Now back at ATHX as a coach, Zach brings that same dedication and insight to the athletes he works with.
Currently studying Kinesiology, he’s passionate about helping players train smarter, move efficiently, and perform at their best—both on and off the field.

Tanner Kirwer is a dynamic marketing professional and accomplished baseball coach with a unique blend of experience in sports and business. Tanner’s journey began on the diamond where he excelled as a baseball player. After earning a scholarship to play NCAA Division 1 baseball at Niagara University, he balanced his athletic pursuits with a degree in Business Marketing, laying the foundation for his career beyond the field.
Following his college career, Tanner was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays as an outfielder, where he spent five years in their organization making it to AA. His time with the Blue Jays was marked by growth and development, eventually leading him to play his final two seasons with the Seattle Mariners, where he finished his professional career in AAA.
With a deep understanding of both team dynamics and the business side of sports, Tanner transitioned into marketing, leveraging his leadership skills and strategic thinking he adapted during his playing days. As Marketing Director and Baseball Coach to our academies, he applies his unique perspective to drive brand growth, cultivate relationships, and inspire the next generation of athletes.
Tanner’s ability to blend athletic excellence with marketing has made him a valuable asset to both our baseball academy and the business side of ATHX. He continues to coach and mentor our aspiring athletes while leading innovative marketing strategies.

ATHX Performance is proud to welcome Halen Knoll as a pitching coach for the academy. Halen brings extensive experience as a collegiate athlete and a proven track record of success at the elite summer collegiate level. He competed at the University of Mary (NCAA Division II) and with the Edmonton Collegiate Hawks (CCBC), while also showcasing his talents over multiple seasons in top-tier summer leagues.
Halen spent two summers with the Fort McMurray Giants and one with the Sylvan Lake Gulls in the WCBL, before becoming a standout with the Edmonton Riverhawks of the West Coast League. In 2023, he earned the prestigious title of West Coast League Pitcher of the Year after finishing the season with a 2.20 ERA over 73.2 innings pitched. His dominance on the mound helped cement his reputation as one of the league’s top pitchers.

Evan Bourassa joins ATHX Performance as an academy coach. Evan brings a winning mindset, having seen success at the provincial level as both a player and a coach. Winning provincials with the St. Albert Cardinals as a player in 2013, 15’, 18’, 19’, and once more as an assistant coach in 2022. Success continued in 2025 as Evan assisted in helping the Zone 5 team take home gold at the Alberta Zone Championships. Since concluding his playing, Bourassa has been developing his coaching skills while working with the St. Albert Development Program. Here, he developed a passion for drill design and player development. Evan looks to maximize the time spent on the field, turf, and in the gym.
Evan is passionate about creating a competitive environment, surrounded by fellow athletes and coaches who believe in getting better every single day. His experience working with the catching position will be an asset to the program.

Wyatt Hummel is the Director of Baseball at ATHX Performance, bringing a wealth of experience and a deep passion for the sport. A standout player for the Okanagan College Coyotes from 2015 to 2019, Wyatt played a pivotal role in leading the team to a League Championship in 2018. He continues to hold the program's single-season ERA record, a testament to his talent and impact on the field.
Wyatt’s baseball career extended beyond college play, as he competed in the West Coast League for the Kelowna Falcons during the 2018 and 2019 seasons. His dedication to the game also saw him playing for the Welland Jackfish in the Intercounty Baseball League in 2022. These experiences provided Wyatt with a well-rounded perspective on both competitive and developmental baseball.
In addition to his playing career, Wyatt served as a Pitching Coach for The Okotoks Dawgs Baseball Academy from January to June of 2022, further developing his coaching abilities and commitment to player development. With a strong foundation in both playing and coaching, Wyatt is passionate about fostering athletic growth, helping players reach their full potential, driving excellence in the baseball community, and moving athletes on to the next level of their academic and baseball careers .
